Hairless, 50-150 cm tall, stems several. Open, dry sites, plains-montane.
Flowerheads yellowish, 2-4 mm wide, in narrow, elongated, compound clusters.
Leaves alternate, lance-shaped to linear, 3-8 cm long, 2-10 mm wide, entire.
A. frigida - Prairie Sagewort
Fragrant plant, 10-40 cm tall, white- or tawny-woolly-hairy. Dry, open places.
Flowerheads yellowish, about 4 mm wide, numerous in tall, narrow clusters.
Leaves basal and alternate, 5-12 mm long, very narrow, twice divided in 3's.
A. ludoviciana - Western Mugwort
Aromatic plant, 30-100 cm tall, often in colonies. Open places, plains-montane.
Flowerheads yellowish and white-woolly, 3-5 mm wide, in tall, narrow clusters.
Leaves alternate, 3-11 cm long, lance-shaped to linear, toothless, white-woolly.
